The South Texas Astronomical Society (STARS) invites you to support the 42nd Annual Turkey Trot, one of Brownsville’s longest-running community traditions, being hosted on Saturday, November 21, 2026. The Turkey Trot brings together runners, families, students, businesses, and community organizations from throughout the Rio Grande Valley for a morning centered on health, community, and giving back.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Carol Lutsinger STEM Scholarship, which provides financial support to graduating Rio Grande Valley high school students pursuing college degrees in STEM and medical fields.

Impact from the 2025 Turkey Trot:

The 2025 Turkey Trot welcomed more than 1,350 registered racers and approximately 2,000 attendees, generating an estimated reach of 20,000+ online impressions and 35,000+ content and website views. Through the 2025 Turkey Trot, STARS raised approximately $20,000 for the Carol Lutsinger STEM Scholarship and awarded 10 scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating Rio Grande Valley students pursuing STEM and medical degrees.
